| Description: | In 1987, Nancy Hatch and Annedore Vegezzi, her partner, incorporated Annedore's Fine Chocolates and opened their shop in March of 1988. Initially, the shop sold only delicious handmade chocolates--truffles, chocolate covered creams, and triple-dipped almonds so fresh and rich they are are only shipped during the winter months or with special cold packs to preserve them throughout their journey. In 1993, with the Seattle coffee craze on the horizon, Annedore's expanded next door and opened ANNEDORE'S FINE COFFEES. So the best chocolate shop in town became the best coffee shop, serving espressos, cappuccinos and lattes from coffee beans roasted and shipped from Seattle, plus their signature hot chocolate made with their own chocolate straight from the chocolate production line. They also added two unique and popular cold summer drinks, Caffe Sorbetto and Fruitta-Granita. With the chocolate shop and coffee bar rapidly growing in popularity, Annedore's expanded again in 1995 and added desserts, pastries and sandwiches to go or to enjoy right there. Nancy's daughter, Kristin, joined the team in 1996. As a graduate of the New England Culinary Institute, and with 5 years experience in hotel and restaurant kitchens, Kris has added many new ideas, especially in the pastry line. Her scones and chocolate chip cookies are legendary in the Kansas City area. In May of 1997, Annedore Vegezzi retired, but under Nancy and Kristin's supervision, Annedore's Fine Chocolates continues to produce the finest hand made chocolates anywhere. |
